What is forestaproyect?

It's about planting trees in the wild. Instead of another gardening blog this is going about how we can plant trees that will survive the cold, the dry, winter and summer in their own, like they would do if were born in the forest. In some areas, the destruction of vegetation is such that without help, the trees have few chances to develop. We as humans have a responsibility to help them recover,

In order to achieve that, is essential to have a deep understanding of tree taxonomy, ecology, growth patterns... otherwise any plantation is going to be a failure. It's quite sad to see all those small saplings you happily planted in winter dried out to death in the hot summer.

But besides the botany knowledge, passion is also essential. With this I mean to feel some kind of connection with the species that you have chosen to plant.

For me Sequoia sempervirens is one of my favorites (coast redwood). Why? I don't know, they are beautiful, huge, have a red bark and live up to 2000 years. Perhaps the connection is more subtle, like something linked with the subconscious part of the brain. Take a look at the trees in your area, or look it up in a book and choose your tree species, then go for a planting.

In this blog I'll give you some tips to do a successfull planting, but mainly I just want to share with all the like-minded tree huggers my own experiments.

  1. Estoy deseando ver más cosas de este sitio, me gustaría que comentaras cosas sobre el cultivo de encinas, pinos piñoneros y cipreses en clima mediterráneo. Un saludo
